THE WORLDS SMALLEST H.265 MOBILE ENCODER

Smart-telecaster Zao-S, the world’s smallest mobile H.265 HEVC hardware encoder, enables full HD live video mobile transmission of public safety events via multiple 4G carriers from remote locations or moving locations including body cams, vehicles, helicopters or drones back to a command and control centre, with a simple unit attached to the camera.
Mobile and Rugged

At 400 grammes and complete with internal battery, the Zao-S simply attaches to the HDMI output or HD-SDI output of the camera.

Can encrypt to AES256 ensuring the live stream is fully secure during transmission

Highly Reliable

Uses internal RASCOW algorithm to optimise video stream based on both the 3G/4G availability and latency required. Can live stream in even the most challenging of 3G/ 4G LTE availability, even as low as 250kb/sec, up to a maximum of 5MB/sec. Ideal for street surveillance, special operations, drone operations and facial recognition.

Mitigate 4G risk

Uses up to 3 SIM cards from different providers that the Zao-S will “bond” together as a single connection and will split video between the mobile carriers based on the real time 4G availability on each carrier.

Latest Compression

Uses H.265 HEVC that is 50% more efficient than traditional H.264 MPEG-4 encoding

ONVIF Compliant

The receiver end (using Cloud VMS+ ) can provide an H.265 ONVIF compliant stream for use with COTS Video management Systems (VMS). The Zao-S can also use other receivers from Soliton including HD View, Cloud View and Cloud CVS.

What the Zao S does for Mobile Broadcasting

Challenges live mobile video streaming
High quality mobile video streaming can be challenging from remote locations such as news-gathering situations or other live events that may include sports events being filmed over a wide area. Cameras may need to provide live video streams from a car, motorcycle, drone or helicopter that are moving at speed. The fluctuating availability of the 3G or 4G cellular network makes it hard with traditional systems to maintain reliable HD quality of live streaming content. The RASCOW algorithm combined with H.265 and its small size and weight, the Zao-S provides high reliability that is easily transportable even on a person or bicycle. Smart-telecaster Zao-S is a portable video H265 HEVC encoder that compresses video in real-time enabling full HD live video streaming to anywhere in the world, while on the move.

Lightweight and small

Due to its lightweight (about 350g) and portability, the Zao-S can be carried either on body strap or can be mounted on a camera and connect either via HD-SDI or HDMI to the camera.

Supports H.265 video compression standard

Smart-telecaster Zao-S is equipped with the H.265 video compression standard. H.265 technology improves encoding and compression by approximately 50% compared to H.264 compression. As a result HD picture quality can be maintained even when the mobile phone signal strength becomes low and with very low latency (0.3 seconds).

RASCOW technology

Smart-telecaster Zao-S connects up to 3 SIM cards via external dongles that can be bonded together to form a single connection via 3G, 4G or WiFi. RASCOW technology monitors the changing mobile signal strength in real time and adapts the most optimum bonded combination of the 3G, 4G and WiFi connections. As a result the quickest and most reliable delivery across the internet is given to the decoding platform. This continues to give reliable video contribution even when signal strengths becomes low or fluctuates rapidly.

Our technology for optimized mobile communication is called RASCOW (Real-time Auto-Speed Control based on Waterway model). RASCOW technology automatically balances the load between various network base stations during live broadcasting. This allows unprecedented stability in image transmission, even under network congestion or weak network signals.
